First Impressions – Eden Bodyworks Co-Wash

Happy Friday! I'm back today with a first impressions of Eden Bodyworks Natural Cleansing Co wash. The goal of this co wash is to cleanse as well as condition the hair.

Cowashing is great for your hair because it's a quick and easy cleanse between washes that does not strip your hair. I used to cowash with my regular conditioners but I decided to opt out for a actual co wash product. Using your regualar conditioners is a great cost effective way to cowash, and I recommend it when your starting out or run out of your cowash product.

My first cowash product was As I Am Coconut Cowash. I wanted to love this product because it is highly raved about but unfortunately it did not work for me. This product made my hair squeaky clean which was great and had an amazing smell to it but it left my hair feeling stringy. I hate that feeling because my hair has no slip to it no matter what product I put in it afterwards. I was not amazed by the price either.

So let's get to what you came here for. I was skeptical about trying another cowash specific product because of my first experience . It also does not help that the packaging does not state that your hair may feel a particular way after use.

On this second go around I wanted to look for a cheaper cowash and one that actually made my hair feel soft as well. I did some research before I went to the store, and Eden Bodyworks Cowash seemed like the best option for me.

This baby rung up to $8 and is amazing. I specifically focus the cowash on my scalp and when I rinse the product it seeps down to the rest of my hair. I liked the cream/butter like feeling of the product and the refreshing feeling on my scalp.

After rinsing the product out my hair, my hair felt soft, clean, and moisturized. I can proudly say I found my match. If your like me and want a conditioning cowash then this product is for you. It also will not break the bank. I give it 5 stars!

(Side note: As I Am Coconut Cowash could be your match as well. You may have to experiement with it to see what your hair likes. I picked mine up from Walmart and I was able to return it after use).

Thanks for reading and as always, I'll talk to you all in my next post, muah!

Pantene Gold Series First Impression

I was lucky enough to be sent some free goodies from Pantene by Influenster. The new Pantene Gold Series hair care line is dedicated to African American hair.

I tested out these products recently so I wanted to give my first impression opinion to you all. When using these products I did not deep condition or do a L.O.C method because I wanted to see how the products performed on their own.

The Pantene Gold Series does include more products than what I will mention, so I will just go over the products that were sent to me.

*All product perks: moisture, smell, and slip.*

First things first, the shampoo. Initially I was pretty nervous when I seen that the shampoo did contain sulfate and it lathered but once I used it I was amazed. Sulfate is not good on the hair but this shampoo has a light lather and was still moisturizing. After rinsing, my hair felt clean and soft.

Second, the conditioner was one of my favorite things from the products because of its amazing slip and how easy I was able to detangle my hair. The conditioner did not contain any sulfate so it was extra rich in moisture. I also noticed that I had less hair shedding when I detangled my hair. I did have to go into the conditioner more to cover as much of my hair as I wanted but it was worth it. I also used this baby as a leave in when I applied the butter creme.

Lastly, the butter creme was amazing because it coated my hair well and sunk into my hair nicely. I noticed that my hair did not drip as much as it normally does when I apply a product, and I’m sure that’s because my hair was absorbing the butter creme well.

I used the butter creme in combination with the conditioner as a leave in to do four braid outs over night. Once I woke up I seperated the braid outs, shook my hair, and picked it out a little to add definition. My curls were soft and manageable than ever before. I also noticed that the curls were more defined and I had less frizz with my front curls compared to how they usually be.

Con: I would like Pantene to eventually make larger sizes of the shampoo & conditioner because I can see myself using up the products within a month or less.

Overall I love the products and I feel that they do cater to black hair and Pantene did an amazing job with celebrating our culture with this line. I look forward to trying out the rest of the collection and repurchasing these pieces in the future.

Have you all tried out this line? If so, how did you like it, let me know in the comments. Talk to you all in my next post, muah!

Ole Henriksen Skincare Review

The key to beautiful makeup is healthy skin. Healthy skin, to me, is one that is clean. I don’t believe anyone has “perfect skin” because anyone’s skin can fall under the categories of dry, sinsitive , acne prone , oily, or combination. Even if you have “normal” skin you still may have problems in one of the areas mentioned.

Personally I deal with oilyness when I wear makeup, and for a while now I have researched ways in helping reduce the amount of oily I produce. Based on my research I found that it’s great to tone the skin in order to get rid of pore buildup that your face wash did not get, and it’s good to moisturize after toning, because although your trying to reduce oil buildup you do not want your skin too dry.

With that being said I’m using a toner that works well but could be better, and I have yet to find a good moisturizer for oily skin.

Influenster was kind enough to send me a complimentary VoxBox including three new skincare products from Ole Henriksen. The products cater to oily skin and it’s a three step system. The box included a face wash, toner, and moisturizer. All products have a refreshing smell because their infused with Eukalyptus and Peppermint.

Oil Control Cleanser

The cleanser comes in two sizes a 2 oz. / 60ml ($10) and a 5 oz. / 147 ml ($25) . This  is a  foam cleanser which is preferred if you have oily skin because they are typically drying. It’s also great to have because it requires less product use which in turn results in your product lasting longer. I personally like the cleanser because I feel refreshed after using it and although it’s a foam cleanser my face is not completely dried out, and my face is still left moisturizer without the oily feeling. My skin also feels and looks cleaner compared to when I was using my previous cleanser (Mario Budescu- more of a gel cleanser).

Balancing Oil Control Toner

This toner only comes in one size which is a 6.5 oz./ 193ml that retails for $26 . This is a decent size in that you won’t need a lot of toner every time you reach for it. This toner makes my face feel firm and matte. After using the face wash I do not feel completely matte, so the toner cleanses the pores more and gets rid of any buildup that the face wash did not get and really tones my face . Although I feel more matte after using the toner it still does not dry out my skin too much.

Counter Balance Oil Hydrator

The Hydrator comes only in a 1.7 oz/ 50ml retailing for $34. This moisturizer helps bring the moisture back into my skin after cleansing and toning without feeling too cakey or oily. It dries quickly and makes my face feel smooth and soft for the day/night. With this, only a small amount is needed for the entire face. I use about 1-2 pumps and it works well for me.

After using all three steps in this system I can really say that my skin has improved. I usually do all three steps at night, and tone and hydrate in the morning before applying makeup and I’m good to go. I have made it through an entire day without feeling as oily as I normally feel.  I still get oily but I can tell that the buildup is not as heavy as it once was. I’m confident that as I continue to use this system I will continue to see more results. After finishing up the system I am sure I will go and purchase all three products, because I am a strong believer in sticking with something that works.

Thank you all for making it through this extensive review. I hope you all enjoyed and if you have any questions please feel free to ask. Talk to you all in my next post, muah!

Is ZAFUL a scam?

Have any of you all heard of Zaful? It’s a Chinese online clothing store that sells a variety of clothing that’s inexpensive. A lot of people have had bad experiences with the shop ,but mine on the other hand went well, so today’s post is going to be about the item I bought and my overall satisfaction with the brand.

I’ve been eyeing a pair of leggings on Pinterest but I’m the type of person that’s skeptical of ordering from brands that I’m unaware of. Months went by and I noticed the leggings were on sale for $12, so I clicked the link from Pinterest, made an account, and proceeded to checkout. I was able to use a discount code from their Instagram, and without being a member for only five minutes I had redeemable points for my order. The order came out to be $9 and some change after tax and shipping charges.

When I received the tracking number I was confused with how to track the package but once I figured it out I was able to see all movement the package made. It took the package ten days to get to my location and came USPS.

The package was sealed tightly and the leggings did not have any damage to them. I ordered a size small (should’ve ordered a medium) and the leggings were stretchable and comfortable. Although the brand is cheap the material was soft and not itchy at all.

I wore the leggings to the gym and they were great to workout in. I was able to bend, squat, and comfortably sit in the leggings.

Overall I’m satisfied with my purchase. The only problem I may have with them is to remember to wear the right underwear , lol! Other than that I love the leggings and look forward to wearing them more and more in the future. For the price and brand that it is I admire the quality. I’m not sure how long they will last but as of now I’m satisfied .

Bob Cut Review (The RBexperience)

(Disclaimer: All opinions are mine)

Welcome back Goldens! Today I wanted to speak on a hair appointment that I had with Mrs. Ronnita Huff (@therbexperience). She is a Houston hair stylist, you may remember when I blogged about her back in August when she made a sew in on a cap for me. The sew in on a cap is her signature style that she provides for customers .

Since the sew in on a cap was so good I was able to re-use it for another installation. This time I wanted to try a bob cut look . I tried this style last winter from another stylist ,and it did not come out as I would have liked ,but I wanted to try it again because I had seen the great work that Mrs. Ronnita has done via Instagram.

I was going for a blunt cut bob (even all around). The hair originally was two 18 inches and one 20 inch long .

I not only went in for the install (included a wash)($60) and a bob cut ($30), but also a trim ($12)on my natural hair. She washed/ conditioned my hair first, blow dried my hair, trimmed it, braided it, installed the cap, and did the bob cut.

I was in the shop at most an hour in a half. Mrs. Ronnita is known for her quick service and that is exactly what I received. The time also flew by because of the great conversation that we had. Whenever I go in to Mrs. Ronnita’s shop she always is loving and gives great advice. Some stylists tend to not want to teach their clients because they want more service from them , but it is obvious that Mrs. Ronnita cares about her customers and wants them to be educated about their hair care.

I also love that she is always finding a way to reinvent herself . She is the first stylist that I have seen that has a backdrop and ring light set up for before and after pictures. She also has done numerous of hair shows and fashion shows to add to her resume and she does not intend to stop there. I love how she is adding a modern touch to the word stylist. She is a true visionary that is making a name for herself in Houston.

Thank you all for check in to read another review about the awesome Ronnita Huff! If you wish to make an appointment download theRBexperience app in the app store!

The hair that I am using is the Peruvian body wave from elite hair. They are Houston based but also have a website ( . You can follow them on Instagram @elitehair. They are always having amazing deals on their hair so make sure to check them out as well.

See you all in my next post , 😘!
