Hair Talk: New Products and Wash Routine

Hey Goldens, I received good feedback on my “pre-poo” post, so I decided to start a segment on my blog called “hair-talk”. I will have a hair talk post when I want to either update or talk about what I’m doing with my hair. I have naturally curly hair but some, if not most, of the talks can relate to a general audience .

In this particular post I’m mentioning new products I picked up and my new wash routine.

I decided to pick up the Renpure Biotin and Collagen shampoo and conditioner because I heard great things about it. I opted for this brand instead of the OGX brand because it was cheaper and there were amazing reviews on it as well. I also picked up a ton of hair deep conditioner packets , because I read how deep conditioning your hair frequently is great for moisture. The Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil leave in conditioner is not new, but it’s one of my favs and I highly recommend you all to check it out, as well as the other products within its family.

As far as my new wash routine , I’ve revamped it a little and added a few steps. I used to wash my hair , condition, detangle while the conditioner is in my hair , rinse, and then add the Shea moisture leave in conditioner and Miss. Jessie’s coily custard and proceed to styling.

Recently I’ve been pre-pooing before I wash , wash, condition, rinse, deep condition (detangle while the deep conditioner is in my hair), rinse with cool water, and then do the L.O.C (liquid/leave-in, oil, cream)method before styling .

Let me know if you all want a separate post on the products I use and why it’s important to do the L.O.C method.

Ever since I’ve changed the way I do my wash routine I’ve noticed great results with the amount of moisture I have in my hair , and how long my hair last before needing a co-wash.

Thank you all for reading and I’ll talk to you all in my next post , muah!

ABH Lip Palette Review

As you can tell I am a Anastasia Beverly Hills lover! Absolutely anything the brand comes out with I’m down to purchase. The lip palette that recently launched in January had everyone head over heels for the colors, pigmentation, new formula, and endless custom lip combinations .

I am, like everyone else, absolutely in love with this palette. It’s not a surprise that I believe that the company has done yet another awesome job at making a product that is very versatile.

From top to bottom : 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 8, 10, Primary 3 , 12, 13

One of my main things that drew me to this palette was that the colors that are already made into the palette are gorgeous by themselves! All of the colors that I’ve wanted , but could never find the right match for are in this palette. For example , for the longest time I’ve been on the hunt for a pinky mauve color that would look great on my skin tone, that would be an awesome everyday lip color, and the number’s 2 & 5 in this palette are just that. Oh, and don’t get me started on the purple shade (number 9), it’s absolutely stunning without being too out there.

This palette is definitely WOC friendly.

Primary 5

(Check out my YouTube video to see the lip combos I came up with while using this palette.)

The new formula is another aspect of this palette that I picked up on immediately when trying on one of the shades. I loved the old formula but this new formula is AMAZING! It’s very light and moisturizing. I don’t think a brand can top this formula. Anastasia definitely out did themselves. After an entire day of wear of the product it was still pigmented , light on the lips, and not drying. You completely forget that your even wearing it.

As far as the packaging I like the clear top so that you can peer into which shades your looking for and I love the spatula lip brush , it’s not flimsy at all. Also I’m glad she added in the mixing tray, because that comes in handy for mixing the shades as well as using for other makeup use. The price for this palette is great for all that comes with it ($46 = $2.50 a shade , not counting the mixing tray ).

I’m not sure if this is a limited edition but I do recommend getting your hands on one. You will not regret it. The palette is  online at Anastasia, Ulta , and Sephora and will be in stores on March 15th. This palette is labeled vol.1 so I’m not sure if any future palettes are in the works, but if their anything like this one you can bet to see another review from me .

Until next time, muah!

Pre(sham)poo Method

I hope you all aren’t weirded out my the title of this post. Well I’m sure if your reading this then your either not weirded out or want to know more about what “pre-pooing” is. So basically a pre-poo is something that is done before washing your hair. This method helps with restricting shampoo from stripping your hair of its natural oils, and leaves your hair soft and shiny after shampooing. This term is commonly used in the natural hair community but the method can be used by anyone. Having dry hair for me is a big no no , so when I read about this method I began incorporating it into my wash routine.

There are several different pre-poo products that you can buy but I simply use any oil (currently coconut oil) and honey. I use as much as I need to evenly coat all of my hair and I tie my hair in a bun for about 30 minutes to an hour before washing. I want to make sure that my hair absorbs all of the mixture before I shampoo.

This method has really helped my hair become more soft, manageable, and shiny. Also it’s easy for me to detangle my hair after washing because my hair is softer. I highly recommend you all try this method out. It has worked wonders for me and I hope it does for you. Until next time , muah!

Ole Henriksen Skincare Review

The key to beautiful makeup is healthy skin. Healthy skin, to me, is one that is clean. I don’t believe anyone has “perfect skin” because anyone’s skin can fall under the categories of dry, sinsitive , acne prone , oily, or combination. Even if you have “normal” skin you still may have problems in one of the areas mentioned.

Personally I deal with oilyness when I wear makeup, and for a while now I have researched ways in helping reduce the amount of oily I produce. Based on my research I found that it’s great to tone the skin in order to get rid of pore buildup that your face wash did not get, and it’s good to moisturize after toning, because although your trying to reduce oil buildup you do not want your skin too dry.

With that being said I’m using a toner that works well but could be better, and I have yet to find a good moisturizer for oily skin.

Influenster was kind enough to send me a complimentary VoxBox including three new skincare products from Ole Henriksen. The products cater to oily skin and it’s a three step system. The box included a face wash, toner, and moisturizer. All products have a refreshing smell because their infused with Eukalyptus and Peppermint.

Oil Control Cleanser

The cleanser comes in two sizes a 2 oz. / 60ml ($10) and a 5 oz. / 147 ml ($25) . This  is a  foam cleanser which is preferred if you have oily skin because they are typically drying. It’s also great to have because it requires less product use which in turn results in your product lasting longer. I personally like the cleanser because I feel refreshed after using it and although it’s a foam cleanser my face is not completely dried out, and my face is still left moisturizer without the oily feeling. My skin also feels and looks cleaner compared to when I was using my previous cleanser (Mario Budescu- more of a gel cleanser).

Balancing Oil Control Toner

This toner only comes in one size which is a 6.5 oz./ 193ml that retails for $26 . This is a decent size in that you won’t need a lot of toner every time you reach for it. This toner makes my face feel firm and matte. After using the face wash I do not feel completely matte, so the toner cleanses the pores more and gets rid of any buildup that the face wash did not get and really tones my face . Although I feel more matte after using the toner it still does not dry out my skin too much.

Counter Balance Oil Hydrator

The Hydrator comes only in a 1.7 oz/ 50ml retailing for $34. This moisturizer helps bring the moisture back into my skin after cleansing and toning without feeling too cakey or oily. It dries quickly and makes my face feel smooth and soft for the day/night. With this, only a small amount is needed for the entire face. I use about 1-2 pumps and it works well for me.

After using all three steps in this system I can really say that my skin has improved. I usually do all three steps at night, and tone and hydrate in the morning before applying makeup and I’m good to go. I have made it through an entire day without feeling as oily as I normally feel.  I still get oily but I can tell that the buildup is not as heavy as it once was. I’m confident that as I continue to use this system I will continue to see more results. After finishing up the system I am sure I will go and purchase all three products, because I am a strong believer in sticking with something that works.

Thank you all for making it through this extensive review. I hope you all enjoyed and if you have any questions please feel free to ask. Talk to you all in my next post, muah!

New Makeup Goodies

From top to bottom Kitty Kay, Forever Young, Daydream, Forever Lit, Glo Getter, and 143

Hey Goldens, I wanted to talk about some new goodies I have . If you all didn’t know Anastasia Beverly Hills collaborated with Nicole Guerriero (YouTuber) on a limited edition glowkit. Highlight is my favorite part of my makeup routine and I’m obsessed with the ABH glowkits so this was a must for me!

As you can see the shades are extremely  pigmented and not to mention buttery smooth! There is not fall out or chunkyness with the shades and I can really see myself wearing these colors all spring/summer long. I was really afraid of the Forever Lit shade but it’s gorgeous on my skin. I think they really made a great palette for all skin tones.

This palette is a limited edition, retails for $40, and is exclusive to Sephora and Anastasia Beverly Hills retailers.

I also wanted to talk to you all about a makeup brush set that I purchased . The luxie dreamcatcher set is beyond beautiful. Their not only nice to look at but great for makeup. The bristles are amazingly soft. This set includes all the brushes you could ever possibly need ! This set is on the Luxie beauty site and details for $150. Also the brushes come packaged in a great travel case. I highly recommend these brushes for beginners are m.u.a’s . Their site also includes individual brushes as well as master brush sets for m.u.a or anyone who wants more brushes that what this collection offers.

Neutral Spring Outfit

Spring is coming , spring is coming ! The weather already feels like it here in Texas. I wanted to create this look for the spring season and just the warm weather in general. I’m obsessed with how the pairing came out , and I hope you all do as well.

Unfortunately only my shorts are still for sale , but I linked similar items for the ribbed duster and the v-neck tee

Let me know if you all will be recreating this look or incorporating these pieces in your spring wardrobe.

Talk to you all in my next post, muah!
